United Methodist Women News

FROM THE PRESIDENT:

The Rappahannock District United Methodist Women are celebrating their work in 2010.  Our mission giving for the year was $66,506, which exceeded our $64,500.00 pledge. Through dedication and hard work in raising this money, many women, children and youth will have a better life and perhaps injustices eradicated. The women of this district remain faithful and continue to live out their purpose by putting faith, hope and love into action.

In January approximately 90 local unit officers and district mission team members met to discuss plans for this year. Skits, new procedures for treasurers, and redistricting information were shared with unit officers.

In His Service,

Sylvia Massie, President

DISTRICT UMW EVENTS

United Methodist Women of Andrew Chapel UMC in Montross each year sponsors a class at Cople Elementary School.  Once a month, volunteers go to a first grade class and listen to the students read one-on-one.  At the December, (2010) visit, members presented each student in the class with a stocking cap knitted by the Busy Bees of Andrew Chapel.  Pictured: UMW members Vinny Parry, Peggy Jones, Bettie Lou McGinness, Evalyn Sanford, and teacher, Mrs. Feamster, and the children wearing their new hats!
